Carmit Avidan-Shpalter
A 2011-12 fellow, Avidan-Shpalter interns in the Chief Scientist's Office at the Ministry of Industry Trade and Labor.
Prior to joining the fellows program, Avidan-Shpalter worked as director of marketing communications at a leading company dealing with finance education. Before that, she worked at the Weizmann Institute of Science as a curriculum developer of an innovative bioinformatics unit for high school students, and she conducted bioinformatics research at Prochon Biotech Ltd., a company that designs cartilage otology. At the same time, Avidan-Shpalter worked as a science reporter on Channel 2 and a broadcaster on Tel Aviv and IDC radio stations.
In the military, Avidan-Shpalter served as an Israeli Air Force photographer, honing a skill that she continues to enjoy as a hobby.
Avidan-Shpalter holds a B.Sc. in computer science from Ben-Gurion University and an M.Sc. summa cum laude in biotechnology from Tel Aviv University. Avidan-Shpalter was awarded the dean's fellowship for outstanding achievements. She currently is pursuing an MBA from Tel Aviv University.
